Organization Structure
The Organization structure of Lake Rukwa Basin Water Board comprises of two core Units (Water Resource Management Unit, Environment & WUA Unit) and other nine supporting units

History
The Lake Rukwa Water Basin was established in May, 2004 by the previous Water Utilization (Control and Regulation) Act no. 42 of 1974 and its subsequent amendments Act No. 10 of 1981, Act No. 17 of 1989 and Act No. 8 of 1997.

Katuma Catchment
Katuma sub-basin occupies the northwestern part of Lake Rukwa Basin, extends over an area about 15,800Km2, and covers parts of five districts (Mpanda DC, Mpanda TC, Mlele DC, Sumbawanga DC, and Nkasi DC)
Momba Catchment
Momba sub-basin occupies the southwestern part of the Lake Rukwa Basin and extends over an area about 9,750 km2 covering parts of Sumbawanga DC, Kalambo, Mbozi, Momba DC and Tunduma DC
Songwe Catchment
Songwe sub-basin forms the eastern part of the Lake Rukwa Basin and extends over an area of about 10,800 km2 covering parts of Chunya, Mbeya DC, Mbeya Urban, Songwe District, Mbozi, Mbarali, and rungwa District
Muze/Lwiche Catchment
Lwiche sub-basin forms the eastern part of the Lake Rukwa Basin and extends over an area of about 10,800 km2 covering parts of Chunya, Mbeya DC, Mbeya Urban, Songwe District, Mbozi, Mbarali, and rungwa District
Rungwa Catchment
Rungwa sub-basin forms the eastern part of the Lake Rukwa Basin and extends over an area of about 10,800 km2 covering parts of Chunya, Mbeya DC, Mbeya Urban, Songwe District, Mbozi, Mbarali, and rungwa District
